Dubious consent. Luca & Issa have an arranged marriage and the imbalance of power between them often blurs the lines of consent.

Parental abuse of an adult child. Issa’s father is controlling and physically abusive.

Memories of traumatic events. At various points in the story, Issa has dreams about the death of her mother and brother in a car accident, and of her father beating her as a teenager. 

Kidnapping. This does NOT involve torture of any kind.

Violence. The main characters are members of a crime family/syndicate. There are various incidents of violence, including gun violence, that are implied or  explicitly discussed.
